Benefits
PU (Polyurethane) Foam
PU (Polyurethane) foam underlay is a lightweight, cushioned underlay made from recycled foam. It’s popular for carpeted floors due to its excellent comfort, thermal insulation, and sound absorption. Durable and easy to install, it’s ideal for bedrooms and living areas but less suited for damp environments.
Sponge Rubber
Sponge rubber underlay is a dense, flexible underlay made from natural or synthetic rubber. It offers good durability, comfort, and sound insulation, making it suitable for both domestic and commercial use. It’s especially effective under carpet and performs well in high-traffic areas.
Crumb Rubber
Crumb rubber underlay is a dense, durable option made from recycled tyres. It offers excellent sound insulation and stability, making it ideal for high-traffic and commercial areas. Suitable for use under carpets and wood floors.
Laminate Underlay
Laminate underlay is a thin, supportive layer placed beneath laminate flooring. It provides cushioning, reduces noise, and helps protect against moisture and minor subfloor imperfections. It improves comfort and extends the life of the laminate floor.
Combination
Combination underlay combines foam and rubber materials to offer both cushioning and durability. It provides excellent sound insulation, moisture protection, and comfort, making it suitable for various flooring types like laminate and carpet.
Underfloor heating Underlay
Underfloor heating underlay has a low tog rating to allow heat to pass through easily. It provides insulation and cushioning while maximizing the efficiency of the heating system.
Felt
Felt underlay is a thick, dense layer made from compressed fibers. It offers good insulation, soundproofing, and cushioning, making it ideal for carpets in both residential and commercial spaces.
Pre-tackified underlay
Pre-tackified underlay has an adhesive layer that helps carpet stay securely in place without extra glue. It makes installation quicker and ensures the carpet remains smooth and stable.
Underlayment for LVT
Underlayment for LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) is a thin, moisture-resistant layer that provides cushioning, sound absorption, and helps smooth minor subfloor imperfections. It protects the flooring and improves comfort without affecting the tile’s stability.
Why Should you invest in new Underlay?
Installing new carpets without updating the underlay can lead to a shorter carpet lifespan and quicker wear. Over time, your old underlay will lose its effectiveness, leaving your carpet without the necessary support and comfort it needs to thrive.
Underlay acts as a great shock absorber, helping to minimize unwanted noise. A high-quality underlay will dampen sounds like footsteps or moving furniture, creating a quieter and more peaceful environment.
Additionally, a good underlay provides extra insulation, keeping warmth in and reducing heat loss. This means your rooms stay warmer during the colder months, helping you save on heating costs.
